Great Imperial Map Monument

The Great Imperial Map Monument sits on a hill overlooking the town of Kharkhorin (Karakorum) in the Övörkhangai Province of Mongolia.

Kharkhorin was once the capital city of the Mongol Empire under Chinggis (Genghis) Khan’s successor, Ögedei.

The monument has maps on the walls surrounding it and a very large shamanistic ovoo (cairn of stones) in the centre.
